ABOUT the Virtual World Tour Club
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? What would your quest be? To visit the Great Wall of China? Would you go to Paris? Maybe you would prefer a warm, tropical island? This winter you can go wherever you wish on a virtual world tour.
The Virtual World Tour Club is an after school club for 4th through 6th grade students at Roy Gomm Elementary School. Club members will plan a trip around the globe, and find out more information about each place she or he visits. Each week, club members will give a short presentation of the interesting aspects of his or her trip that they have researched.

ABOUT the National Geography Bee
Beeing the best?
On May 25th, 12 year-old Rishi Nair, a sixth grader from Seffner, Florida, won a $50,000 scholarship, and became the 2016 champion of the National Geographic Bee held in Washington, D.C. Rishi competed against 53 other 4th through 8th grade students, who were champions of their state or territory. Thirty-one of the 54 champions had not competed at the national level before.
This year, Roy Gomm Elementary will be participating in the National Geographic Bee. The winner of the school competition on January 31, 2017. The winner will be eligible to test for the state competition, and if they qualify they will travel to Las Vegas for the Nevada National Geographic Bee. The state champion will be eligible to compete in Washington, D.C. to be the National Geographic Bee champion and win a $50,000 scholarship.
The National Geo Bee challenges students to be familiar and gain an in-depth understanding of diversity and unique aspects of the world around them. It encourages knowledge of the economic, environmental, social, and political forces that shape human behavior. The National Geo Bee promotes better world citizenship through studying ourselves and the people around us.
